Ad Hoc Communication Resources Launches PR Industry's First Litigation Public Relations Practice Group Led by Patent Attorney
Practice Group Crafts Intellectual Property Communications Strategies, Protects Brands and Simplifies High-Profile, High-Stakes Communications for B2B Tech Community
Omaha, Neb. - (May 1, 2006) - Ad Hoc Communication Resources, a leading full-service professional services firm dedicated to serving the business-to-business technology community, has appointed Mark Ryan to lead the firm's new litigation public relations practice group in Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Ryan will serve as Principal of the Practice and will provide strategic counsel to Ad Hoc clients at the intersection of law and the court of public opinion to develop intellectual property communications strategies, and protect global brands and corporate reputations.
"Ad Hoc's approach to litigation communications is simple - help clients and their lawyers develop communications strategies that support and maximize their legal strategies," said Mark Ryan, co-founder of Ad Hoc and principal of Ad Hoc's new Litigation PR Practice.
"As Ad Hoc experience rapid growth, we are considering the needs of our clients and deploying agency resources in strategic areas of the industry," said Shelli Ryan, Ad Hoc's co-founder and president. "Our Litigation Public Relations Practice Group maximizes and compliments legal counsel with appropriate public relations strategies, simplifies high-stakes communications, and crafts approaches that are sensitive to the frequently competing needs of journalists chasing a story and attorneys protecting their clients."
Designed for law firms and mid market business-to-business technology companies, Ad Hoc's Litigation Public Relations Practice Group services include:
- Intellectual property communications strategies
- Influencer / media outreach programs
- Litigation public relations including pre-trial strategy, message development, litigation media relations and crisis communications preparation.
- Spokesperson and interview training and media coaching.
- Crisis public relations
- Communications vulnerability audits
Unlike public relations firms who may offer similar services, Ad Hoc's Litigation PR team is the only firm of its kind in the nation to have a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney lead the team of trained crisis management counselors, media strategists, and a licensed attorney. The practice group is also unique in its flexible business model, which builds equity in the client relationship by allowing clients to pay for counsel on an as-needed basis instead of monthly retainers.
According to Shelli Ryan, "We're currently helping several clients to expand their brand presence and protect their brand equity, so it was a natural progression to expand our resources into this new area of practice. And Mark's talent and experience as a Patent Attorney were a perfect fit."
A Patent Attorney registered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and a licensed attorney in Nebraska and Iowa, Mr. Ryan has twenty years of experience in teleservices operations and regulatory compliance, patent and trademark prosecution and litigation, intellectual property valuation and licensing, mergers and acquisitions, environmental study, remediation and litigation, corporate governance, design and construction contracts and management, contracts, and crisis communications.
Prior to joining Ad Hoc in 1999, Ryan served in numerous roles, most significantly with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Bovis Lend Lease. He also gained experience while interning as a Clerk for the Honorable Joseph Bataillon in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, and as a member of the Legal Department of West Corporation. Ryan focuses on technology and business matters representing clients of his law practice, Ryan Patent Law.
Mark received a B.A. in Architecture with distinction from Iowa State University, and a Juris Doctor summa cum laude from Creighton University. Ryan is a member of the American Bar Association, the Omaha Bar Association, the Nebraska Bar, the Iowa Bar, and the American Institute of Architects. He has served as Chairman of the Council Bluffs, Iowa City Development Commission, Trustee of S.I.D. #142 in Douglas County, Nebraska, and President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Southwest Iowa Section of the American Institute of Architects.
